What is Dysthymia? Dysthymia is a mild to moderate depression, that starts over a period of time.

Antidepressant medication combined with therapy seems to be the most effective way to treat.
Only about 35 % will respond to the first try of a medication. It is important to go to an MD who is knowledgeable about depression and not give up. DNA tests are now used to determine which medication might benefit each individual.
CBT or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy seems to be a very effective treatment modality for depression
There are other ways to treat depression, more that just taking a pill. Healthy behavior, exercise, diet, increased sunlight, and social interaction, just to mention a few.
